Botarhythm Coffee Roaster is a small roastery in Minamiboso, Chiba. The name blends "Botanical" and "Rhythm." Over the long, unhurried rhythm the plants weave, a cup of coffee and the everyday life around it settle quietly, layer upon layer.
Coffee is
the memory of one seed's journey.
The fruit of coffee trees grown across many lands. From the moment that seed is harvested, processed, roasted, and poured into a single cup, it travels a long road. Botarhythm begins by receiving the memory of that journey with care.
Coffee is a gift of nature. Coffee beans are the seeds of coffee cherries grown in each land. Before that seed is harvested, processed, roasted, and poured into your cup, it makes a long journey. The memory of that journey rises quietly as aroma, flavor, and a lingering finish.
At Botarhythm Coffee Roaster, I hold this "journey of the bean" dear. I want to tell the story of that journey as honestly as I can.
When you drink a cup of coffee in the course of an ordinary day, I hope you might imagine, just a little, where that coffee came from, the people who had a hand in it, and the climate that raised it, and that you spend the time slowly.
From the earth
to the cup.
On this land, cradled by the wooded hills and the sea of Minamiboso, the ways of living unique to this place, and the moments I could only have met here, become the backdrop of a single cup of coffee.
Minamiboso, Chiba, where Botarhythm is based, sits at the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula, a land rich in nature and ringed by beautiful wooded hills and the sea. Since moving here in 2017, through the ways of living unique to this place and the moments I could only have met here, I have spent time rethinking my own relationship with coffee, and the appeal that coffee holds.
Coffee as a livelihood, chosen as an extension of my own experience. Within my ties to the people I have been fortunate to meet, I will keep working with care so that each cup becomes a richer moment.

Out of more than twenty years of working with coffee, and the memory of a cup I once met, I share what follows from here.
Thank you for visiting this site. I am Nobuaki Motozawa of Botarhythm Coffee Roaster.
Over more than twenty years of working with coffee, I have met many towns around the world, the people who live in them, and a great many cups of coffee.
Among those encounters, there is one cup that greatly changed what coffee meant to me. It had an aroma and a flavor entirely unlike any coffee I had known until then. Rich in flavor yet clear, with a mellow sweetness and a finish so long it seemed it might never fade. That cup taught me how vast the potential held in coffee beans can be.
When you drink the Botarhythm coffee I roast, I hope you might touch a new world of coffee, just as that cup once moved me. Please try it, whenever you like.
