The Measurement Act: a rule that supports our daily lives

Have you heard of the "Measurement Act"? It's an important law closely tied to everyday life. Put simply, it's a set of rules for how things get weighed.

The weight of vegetables you buy at the greengrocer, the amount of fuel you pump at the gas station, both need to be accurate, or it becomes a real problem. This Measurement Act is what protects the accuracy of "weighing" in every one of these everyday situations.

Coffee beans sold by weight, and the Measurement Act

This Measurement Act also comes into play when coffee beans are sold by weight.

At Botarhythm, coffee beans are sold in different formats between the online store and the physical shop, matching what each customer needs.

Sales at the online store and sales at the roastery

At the online store, coffee beans are sold in fixed amounts: 100g, 200g, 300g, or 500g.

At the roastery, where I sell face to face, I offer a more detailed service. For 100g or more, you can purchase any amount you like, in 1g increments.

The scale used for this is a "certified" one under the Measurement Act. That means it's a scale used for trade that has been regularly inspected and has its accuracy guaranteed.

A service mindful of the environment

At the shop, care for the environment matters a great deal. Customers who bring their own reusable container receive a 10% bonus on their order. It's one small part of an effort to cut down on waste and ease the burden on the environment.

I also sell containers well suited to storing coffee beans. These containers can be used again and again, and beyond keeping the coffee fresh, they help protect the environment too.

Trust built through conversation with customers

For the customer who wants "the usual beans, the usual amount", the same flavor as last time.
For the customer who says "a bit more this time", the right advice to go along with it.
For the customer who wants "to shop with the environment in mind", a suggestion to bring their own container.

Through these everyday conversations, Botarhythm keeps growing too.

An accurate measure is an important first step toward enjoying good coffee. But even more important is the trust built with each customer, and care for the environment.
