[A word from the roaster]
Domestic decaffeination of this coffee has now ended, and only a small amount of this rare remaining lot is left. Do try it while you can.

[About the origin]
"Decaf" is coffee from which the caffeine has been removed from the green beans through a special process. It is also known as decaffeinated or caffeine-free coffee.

This is a decaf coffee made using "supercritical fluid technology," a newer method that uses no organic solvents or other chemicals whatsoever.
Compared with other conventional methods, supercritical carbon dioxide extraction is considered a superior approach: it is highly safe and, above all, removes caffeine while preserving the flavor of the coffee bean.

For those who are pregnant or nursing, those who want to enjoy coffee on long journeys, and those looking to cut back on caffeine, this offers coffee that is delicious without compromise.

Widely known by the name Mandheling, the Arabica coffee of Sumatra accounts for only around 10% of all coffee produced in Indonesia, and its deep, full-bodied character has long been cherished among Japanese coffee connoisseurs.

"Tano Batak" means "land of the people." For the Batak, a people made up of groups speaking six languages, coffee cultivation is a shared and important part of agricultural life. Here it is grown under ideal conditions, intercropped with leguminous shade trees in fertile, organic-rich volcanic-ash soil.
The coffee cherries, raised in this blessed environment, are harvested fully ripe and become deep green beans through the process known as the Sumatra method.

Enjoy the herbal aroma and the rich, chocolate- and butter-like mouthfeel of this high-quality Grade 1 Mandheling, "Tano Batak."
