[A word from the roaster]
The Gakundu cooperative, which keeps working on quality from many angles, continues its efforts towards sustainable farming. This AA grade lot is a bean with a body you can feel and a rich fruitiness concentrated in it.
[About the origin]
The Gakundu washing station sits at 1,650m in the Embu region on the southeastern slopes of Mount Kenya. Coffee grown in this area, blessed with fertile soil, a cool climate and conditions ideal for coffee production, is a special origin with a stronger body than other areas of Kenya.
Farmers living nearby, 1262 of them, bring their cherries to the Gakundu washing station. This area is covered with fertile reddish brown volcanic ash soil that holds the nutrients best suited to growing. Temperatures move between 13℃ and 25℃, giving the range of temperature that coffee needs to ripen.
