[A word from the roaster]
Cherries that ripen slowly in a cool climate give a juicy fruitiness and the bright acidity of young citrus. Please experience the balanced sweetness and depth.

[Origin notes]
Known for the high-quality lots of Kenyan coffee, "Chorongi" in the Nyeri region is nurtured under special conditions: a cool climate at 1675m and fertile red alluvial soil. This region has earned the trust of roasters around the world and is highly regarded for producing coffees full of fruit.

The Nyeri region lies on the southwestern side of Mount Kenya, with an average temperature of 19 degrees and two rainy seasons a year, striking an exquisite balance of sunlight and rainfall. Acidic soil and a wide day-to-night temperature swing let the beans ripen slowly, giving rise to concentrated flavor. Coffee from here is marked by bright fruit, like blackcurrant, berry, and citrus, and a firm, well-structured acidity, and it is especially prized by coffee lovers around the world.

Centered on the "Chorongi Washing Station," more than 500 farmers work together to grow coffee, each owning around 300 coffee trees on a plot of about 0.8 acres. On these carefully tended farms, varieties such as SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian are grown, and after harvest the cherries are carefully sorted while their quality is refined.

For this lot, hand-picked, fully ripe cherries are given a washed process, then dried evenly on traditional raised "African beds" in the sun. This process brings out the transparent character with Kenya's signature vibrant acidity and richness.

Coffee from the Nyeri region is defined by a strong body, clear acidity, and abundant fruit, and it is sought after by buyers worldwide through auctions and direct trade. Its high quality means supply grows tighter year by year, and it is valued as a rare and precious coffee.

Many passions have come together to make a wonderful cup, one that unfolds with bright, fruity acidity, firm richness, and a pleasant sweetness. Please enjoy this special coffee.
